WHY UPGRADE YOUR SHAFT?

Most golfers never change their putter shaft. They should.

The shaft that comes fitted to most putters is a basic steel tube. It does the job. But it twists slightly at impact, it vibrates, and over time it can rust and degrade. You would not leave a worn grip on your putter. The shaft deserves the same attention.

KBS GPS 120

GPS stands for Great Putting Shaft. It was built specifically for putting, not adapted from an iron shaft. At 120g it sits heavier than most standard shafts, which helps promote a more consistent pendulum stroke and reduces the tendency to get the hands involved. It has been used on the PGA Tour and holds up well in real conditions.

Breakthrough Golf Stability

The Stability range uses a carbon composite core inside a steel outer. The carbon absorbs twist at impact rather than transferring it to the face. Independent testing puts face rotation reduction at around 40 percent versus a standard steel shaft. For players who struggle with a consistent face angle through impact, it is worth serious consideration.

What I recommend

If your shaft has any rust on it, replace it as part of the refurb. It is not worth keeping. For most golfers, the KBS GPS is the right upgrade. It is well made, comes in nine colours, and the performance difference is real. If you want the absolute best and the price does not put you off, the Stability Carbon is hard to argue with.
